That's a strange looking place Mike but it's like MARS on some TV show that I saw in the 50's.
Are they salt deposits from an old ocean or something related geographically ?

Just looked up Mono Lake: "Mono Lake is a saline soda lake in Mono County, California, formed at least 760,000 years ago as a terminal lake in an endorheic basin. The lack of an outlet causes high levels of salts to accumulate in the lake. These salts also make the lake water alkaline." Wikipedia

Great shots! I miss being able to miss there.... I did a lot of camping there many years ago.
