This Ornamental Quince begins blooming in the middle of January every year. The 1.25 inch flowers are a delight but it also sports thorns that make pruning a real adventure. The double download will reveal the hidden pain that awaits. This particular plant is nearing it's 50th birthday. I used an old Pentax 50mm f1.4 SMC Takumar lens on a Sony A65 for this image.
Have you tried a good pair of wood stove gloves? Almost like falconer gloves. I feel your pain, as I’ve had to deal with similar “untouchables.”
I highly recommend goatskin gloves. I have found thorns and even stinging insects cannot penetrate as goats have very dense skin. Try them.
