Is there a legitimate way to determine the shutter count on a Canon 80D?
Free would be nice is possible.
I run Windows 10, not MAC.

All I am finding are scam or bait sites and Canon has no info at all.

Thanks

Canon changes the method the shutter count is stored based on the DIGIC processing version within the EOS bodies. Some sites work for only older DIGIC processors. Some don't work for any of the newest cameras. Look for specific references / confirmations of 80D before purchasing anything. Canon doesn't store the count in the JPEG files, so you can confidently ignore any suggestions from people who are not real owners of real EOS bodies.

Problem solved. Paif $5.18 and bought EOSMSG. Works fine bit is limited on to this camera. No Problem.

It does show a shutter count and a mirror count. Now I noticed, after taking a photo, they both advanced one. So just how is the mirror count ahead of the shutter count? ARRRGGGH!

Good question. Live view without firing the shutter? Mirror up, you look, no go, mirror down.

When in live view the mirror flips up I understand but does the shutter actually activate? If it doesn't that would explain why the mirror count is a whole lot higher than the shutter count.

This is a bit of a pet peeve. But what is Canon trying to hide? Nikon counts are easy to find without paying anything. But Canon maks you jump through hoops to find theirs. WHY???

Sure, I think that is the extra sound you hear. The shutter if open for live view has to close to reset before it reopens to start the shot, then close to finish the shot, then open again to get you back into live view.

the 80D for some reason has been removed from attempting to find out shutter count.
