Out for a drive on a cold day, trying out my new Tamron 150-600mm, from Santa, on my d7100.

Good luck with that lens/body combination. I had the same. Still have the D7100; traded in the Tamron 150-600 because I got maybe 60% clean sharp images. My copy of that lens would hunt to lock focus a lot and in less than ideal lighting it was useless.

So far, so good for me. However I turn off the AF and manual focus probably 25% of the time. I haven't had it very long, so I'm still learning, especially the 3 different AF modes. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Several decades ago I'd shocked bundles of oats from the binder so they'd dry before threshing, but have never seen that done to corn stalks before. Is that an Amish practice? I sure wish I'd used a camera back in the day to record some of those sights, like a field of shocked oats!

Just a thought, maybe it's popcorn? I believe that needs drying.
