How do I remove pink filter from inside my infrared camera

Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a Canon 7D that has been converted to infrared. It has a pink filter in it , and came with another blue filter. Does anyone know how I can remove the pink filter without damaging the camera? I like the plain looks of an infrared photo better. Thanks for any help on this.

Redish color for IR is normal... But with my full spectra... using "custom white balance" is important to getting good color with a 550 or 620nm filter.

If yours is a perhaps common 720nm internal then simply make it a B/W... I use Topaz BW2 plugin... but PS has a primitive method also. [No, the P in PS does not stand for Primitive] If you do not have Topaz BW2 download a trial copy and give it a run.

ICUQTPIE asked..."I can remove the pink filter without damaging the camera?" generally not.. it is not an easy job.

"and came with another blue filter. " That an external filter??

Flamingpear.com has free "archived software" plugins which do channel swapping among other things. I use that to swap red sky and blue trees... R/B swap

I think you should read about infrared before you play with your camera and later regret it. Read info on Kolarivision.com and lifepixel.com
They are both expert sites who do conversions. Infrared without a correct white balance will be pink.
Please read about infrared.

As some already identified, IR will look red. Easiest way to get around it if you don't want to create a custom white balance for in-camera viewing is change your style in camera to black and white. If you are planning to print anything, you will need to either select black and white in PP or create a custom white balance.

You forgot to ask what IR wavelength of the "pink" filter was installed in the camera from the seller!. Different IR filter with different nm will result different IR image! I don't know if you knew any thing about IR photography yet! If you do, so I'm sorry to say that! Other wise do some reach and get the ideal before doing anything with you converted camera!

Yes, well God is in his heaven and all is right with the world and Canon Service. Bull.

Kolarivision is excellen sorce of info and Cambridgeincolor also

It sounds as tho the camera is doing what it was bought for ... the red cast is normal for IR. Get educated as to what to expect with the beginner's guide:

Yes, indeed! When I sold my older IR converted body on Ebay, I included a “ Don’t buy if you don’t know what it is” warning in the description. Still got a decent price as well as a thank you for the warning.

Canon will not touch the camera after it is modified.

That’s why most IR photographers I talked with as well as my self use an older camera for conversion. One I would otherwise be sticking in a dark corner of a closet or selling via ebay. Minimized the financial risk.
