I’m getting a refurbished Olympus OMD E-M5II camera and I was wondering if any of the aftermarket battery brands are any good.

... I use Wasabi as a backup to my Oly battery for my OM 10.1 ...works fine, albeit not quite as long in camera.

I use a combination of Olympus OEM and Wasabi batteries. As for the Wasabi, I use them as a backup to the OEMs and have had no issues.

I have Wasabi batteries for my EM-10, and Kastar batteries for my EM1 ii, and have had no problems. I like the third party chargers since they don't have a line cord to deal with (easy traveling).

I think it's Kastar that has those nice dual chargers that indicate charge level while charging. For my Panasonic G9 I use Kastar, Wasabi, Watson and I think it's Powertek and have had good luck with them. I find that if I'm shooting a lot I can go through 3 batteries in a day so I have 7 or 8 that I rotate through.

While I have been an advocate for after-market batteries, I recently ran into a problem buying Wasabi batteries for a Canon 77d. This uses Canon LP-E17 batteries. Well, the Wasabi batteries are not 'decoded'. The result is 1. the batteries cannot be charged in the Canon charger (not a problem as a pair comes with a charger.) and 2. the camera recognises the battery as a DR-E18, the dummy module used to connect an AC adapter. OK, I have power to the camera, and I can charge the battery. So what is the problem? The camera does not track the remaining power in the battery. So you have no idea when the battery will crap out, and the camera shut down. I now just use them as a last resort. So, check the reviews on the batteries, especially the 1-star and 2-star reviews to see what kinds of problems folks have had.

I like my GreenExtreme dual charger (bought from Adorama). Shows charge percentage. I really like the swappable plates (sleds) for different batteries. I don't mix batteries when charging, but can charge 2 FZ1000 batteries at the same time, and also have sleds for Nikon and Olympus batteries. Great for travel, and keep the single battery OEM chargers as backup.

I have the same camera. I use 2 Wasabi batteries with their charger that charges two batteries at once. It comes with a USB cord that works well for me.
