You may want to go with the portrait orientation with this one or perhaps try another aspect ratio. Don't feel obliged to stick with the grey skies either. Both versions (JPG and TIFF) should have enough resolution to be able to take a bit of trimming if that's what you want. Loch More is in the north Highlands of Scotland.

Feel free to download this photo to your computer. Then you can edit it as you feel is appropriate. Black and white conversions, inverted images, composites, solarization, whatever your fancy is. When you have completed the edit, post it in this thread. Edits will be accepted until Thursday at 9pm. No edits will be accepted after that time. Then we will begin the voting.

Thank you.

Nice sky and nice shimmer.

(A late observation - there seems to be artifacts from selections that you made in the sky).

You're welcome. You've managed to turn a cold, grey morning into a pleasant summer evening.

It’s just a concept. I guess knowing now where I ended up, I could produce a clean version. I might give it another go.

Processed using Lab Color inside Photoshop. I've tried this technique a few times with mediocre results. This image worked well to bringing out additional detail and color.

Pretty scene, but it begged for some water fowl.

I think one of the problems with some of the effects and presets is that they can work well on some parts of an image but can have an adverse effect on other parts of the same image. I suppose the ideal answer would be to be able to apply them selectively and dial them back selectively.

So many things to do with this image. This is my take.
