Factory hand calibrated monitor - a new paradox?

Samsung has released a new 27" calibrated by and at the factory monitor touting really accurate colors and high resolution.
And it can recalibrate itself with embedded firmware! It seems too good to be true without a hidden paradox.

For $1,199 MSRP it is priced about right for a 27" monitor with its reported specifications -- but a "built-in color calibration engine?"
What will become of my Spyder 4 and ColorMunki?

Has anyone out there purchased one or tested one?
It is marketing hype or an improved and worthwhile technology for those seeking a accurate monitor for under $1,500?

From Samsung's website:
"Calibrated by hand to deliver truly lifelike color, the Series 9 Monitor is ushering a new era of color accuracy right to your home or office. Whether you're a professional designer, amateur photographer or entertainment enthusiast, you're sure to appreciate the remarkable image quality. With a 2560 x 1440 resolution that's better than standard HD, ultra-wide viewing angle and built-in color calibration engine, the Series 9 Monitor allows you to enjoy images the way they were meant to be seen."
"The monitor delivers stunning images and razor-sharp resolution while preventing color and image degradation and allowing for superior off-angle viewing. Owners also have the option of purchasing a calibration tool to tune the built-in calibration engine, further maximizing the potential of their Series 9 Monitors."

Dell has had basically the same thing in their Ultrasharp #2410 for a couple of years. I paid $500 for their's and bought the Spyder just in case. I cound have saved the cash on the Spyder---re-calibrations are so minimal not worth buying the calibrator and this is after 9 months of use. Great monitor and rated among the best for photo editing.....
