Hi Folks, recently went to see some Chinese Lantern Displays here at the Nashville Zoo. It's a nighttime event and you'll see why. These displays are scattered throughout the zoo and I was blown away by each one I encountered. The tough part was getting clean shots (without people). There must have been 200+ people roaming the grounds the night I visited. With patience, I somehow managed a few good shots. These are amazing lanterns, and some as big as a house. The displays were mingled in with the existing zoo trees and vegetation, but a few of the larger ones were in open fields. The talent it takes to build them is simply amazing. Someone had to built the skeleton wire frames, then cut the fabric patterns and sow it all together. That along with installing all the internal lights. Perhaps most amazing part is the attention to detail with coloring and painting. The eyes on some of these lanterns almost brings them to life. With Winter, I haven't ventured out much, so haven't posted much. So, I hope you enjoy these images. I'll be posting two threads (Part 1 & Part 2).
