This image was captured at the gathering of Mustangs & Legends, the last time this gentlemen sat in a P-51 was 1945. the expression on his face said it all. the Mustang he was sitting in was named American Beauty. Attached also is a row of P-51 Mustangs

It looks as if his mind is a thousand mile away.... Thanks for sharing.
By the way, where was the gathering ?
The first is outstanding.
Thank you for capturing this most beloved moment. We seldom get a chance to go back in time.

Thousands of miles ago and 75 years away seems more like it.
Nice--both for him and for the photos.

This capture is beyond words. Who only knows the thoughts and feelings of the moment this man experienced sitting in that plane. This is a beautiful image and thank you so much for sharing it. We can never forget the greatest generation that protected our freedoms.

Was that recent or the one a few years back?

I think that's backwards.
Either way, the expression on the gentleman's face denotes feelings that most of us will never know. I know the feeling of being in combat, but not at the controls of a snarling monster whose wrath I am about to unleash on a person whom I have never seen, and bore no animosity towards until he donned the uniform of my country's enemy and set out that day to kill me or my countrymen.
