2nd time on this sport. The lighting was unexpected compared to my first experience to this sport. Couldn't get color right, so went to B&W. All dark except for the 2 brights over the ring. This well take some serious practice!!

You are fortunate (in the lighting). The “spotlight” effect is great for this. really highlights the athletes.

And, for this lighting, the B&W is stunning.

My only comment is that 5-9 they are wrestling “uphill”, the last few especially so. the drama of the match I think would be enhanced if the shot were level (see background line of bleachers). It would put the circle flat, and the “falls” would look more intense. Try it with #9 to see if you like it. I don’t like to do a lot of PP either, but a light crop, if needed, and straighten, would help. You are filling the frame well, and I really like how the spotlight cut off just outside the circle (legs on left side of #4 dropping into the shadows but still there.

If you can shoot this venue in this lighting again, go for it. It is wonderful.

Thank you david. I thought they were kind of junky because of the lighting in the middle. I didn't like the washout look I was getting on skin with color. That is why I changed to B&W. Yes leveling is sometimes a prob. I get too excited!!! The gym was small and I was on the sideline, so I used the Canon 85mm 1.8. This was only my 2nd time shooting this sport. Thank you so much for the helpful comments
