Zodiac Seascape

One of the expeditions in Antarctica from onboard the Le Lyrial is to climb into a Zodiac and cruise around Neko Harbor to see all the creatures, landscapes and Icebergs. The conditions for shooting are horrible, but some of the shots (5% maybe) come out ok. This isn’t my best work, but it looked interesting enough for posting to give you an idea of what a fabulous place Antarctica is. I ran this through PP on an iPad but it really needs to be done correctly on the iMac when I get home. Will try a download.

Just as with text, you have an hour to replace/add/delete photos in your post. Since these two photos are smallish and a bit dark, I'm going to consider them teasers. Hurry home and show us the really good stuff!

But I don’t want to hurry home! Next up is S Georgia Island and there are fur seals, elephant seals, Macaroni Penguins, Rock Hopper Penguins, King Penguins and a host of other Southern Ocean birds to see! Ahhhhhh the end of the month comes too soon!

That’s the easy part. The hard part is the ever changing light and keeping the right exposure. Plus if I try uploading a photo, the WiFi will only let small jpegs thru. That’s why I think I’ll wait to post anything from now till I’m back in the last week of the month.
This has been an epic journey to the Southern Ocean. Highly recommend taking this relatively small ship (170 passengers) and getting to take two land trips every day we pull into a harbor. The at sea days can be challenging with a 25’ swell and winds up to 40 knots. Sleeping is not easy as the rock and roll of the ship can push you right out of bed onto the deck. But the vistas and creatures you can see make it all worthwhile. Thankfully I don’t get seasick, just a little dizzy now and again.

You will love South Georgia! We thought it to be more spectacular than the Antarctic Peninsula in some ways. Enjoy, and good shooting!

Just now arriving at Fortuna Bay and the landscape is awesome. Can’t wait to go ashore and get close to some wildlife.
