A variety of styles of commercial apple orchards found in the Yakima Valley. Feedback welcomed, thanks for viewing!

The Deer may think it’s a candy shop. Nice shots, like the way the colors pop against the snow.

Your images from the orchards, these and others, do a great job of making the apples stand out as the subject with the background adding to the story. I would describe your style as a simple elegance that holds the attention of the viewer. Or as I probably would have said when I first joined UHH, “nice set, Linda”. 😀

I like them all and each plays nicely on contrast, both photographically and the growth-cycle/season subject matter. I grew up around orchards and have always found an almost spiritual comfort in thier organization. I am especially fond of old orchards, those still under care and those in retirement. See what your photos did? I always enjoy your view of agriculture in the Yakima Valley.

It is special to hear when a photo prompts sweet memories for others. Thanks so much Phil.

First thought, Linda, was: what? are there no deer in the Yakima valley??? Then I started looking at the images as images --as you'd probably prefer-- and.... the word 'engaging' came to mind. But I quickly discarded that wholly inadequate milquetoast sort of 'non-word' word and came up with a phrase a little more precise: nicely graphic overall. Good stuff, expat-Maine person!

Thank you, Jim! I'm not sure I have a total grasp of what defines graphic, even though the following link is in my Chrome bookmarks: https://digital-photography-school.com/5-tips-to-create-graphic-photographs/

If you have time, would love a bit more discussion - or instruction/observation from you is actually what I mean

'Graphic' means a lot of things to a lot of people, but generally speaking, 'graphic' tends to describe an image that simplifies things -tones, gradients from one tone or color to another, etc.-- to some extent. In effect, if you thought of an image as being something of a 'posterization' of the elements, where mid-tones are dropped and edges are emphasized. That, or something like it, is most evident in the last of your set. The others are slightly less 'graphic' but they still sort of qualify.

Great shots. The fourth and third are my favorites. I love the negative space of the last image.

Wonderful series, Linda! The last one goes beyond what it pictures and presents an ethereal place.

All lovely, Linda, but the last one really stood out for me. I love the high key effect of the snow and the way you've composed the shot.
