This is what I currently deliberating, as I have chance to buy one Tamron 18-200 lens for good price, its well used but working well.
What I have is the exact same lens Tamron 18-200 but the body broke when my wife tripped and fell whilst hitting the fence post with it.
Thus my question, has anyone here done similar switch of mounts like Canon to Nikon or vice versa.
All your comment are welcome!

I don't know about switching the mount, but I'm pretty sure there is an adapter to allow a Nikon F-mount lens to be used on Canon.

Are you talking about a lens that sells for $150 used and $250 new in the US? It's not worth fixing, just replacing with the same or something better.

It would seem to be a simple change to remove the mount from one lens and place it on an identical lens. Just the same, you might want to send a PM to member MTShooter. He owns a camera store and can most likely give you the correct answer.

No not that one, one KEH its much less money. But, thank You, yes at that price would not make sense.

Thank You, just as I thought. Since the contact ring is plastic with embeded metal contacts and separate from the mount which itself is metal. I suppose once the correct mount is aligned so are the contacts, well hopefully.
And yes, will pm MT Shooter if I can.

Thank You and all1

After you replace it, tell your wife not to use it while hitting the fence post. Using a hammer works better when driving the post in....

There is no way to physically interchange the mount on those lenses, there is way too much difference between them and they are not manufactured to be interchangeable.
Sigma makes there "Global Vision" line of lenses that are designed for mount interchangeability, but such work must be done at Sigma to apply the proper firmware.

Sigma offers that service on some of their lenses. I think you are out of luck with Tamron.

There are a number of reasonably priced adaptors that will allow for a Nikon lens on Canon and a Canon lens on Nikon. However, they generally do not pass any electronics through. They become user dependant lenses. Adaptors that are "intelligent" are in the $250+ Range and a new lens may be Less expensive. I also expect you would run into more issues than it worth to buy any adaptor

It can't be the only Tamron 18-200 lens out there. Rather than focus on getting a non-compatible lens and trying to change it, just find a Tamron 18-200 in the Canon mount.
