I live on the left coast in CA, now on our state issued driver's license or ID one has three choices: male, female or nonbinary. I think computers are nonbinary. chase
I'm giving her all she's got captain!!! And then there was HAL. It seems all things with female names will keep you safe, sail the 7 seas, and you will never fully understand them. Male names, on the other hand, will kill you to save itself, chase the bad guys or run from the cops. Writer of the article nailed it 30 yrs. ago.

Mathematically, computers are definitely BINARY.

That's all they know.
(Don't say HEX or OCTAL as that's OUR simplified representation of what is inside them.)
Definitely, Female. well maybe... VBG
I can't argue with either side.
I remember this article and it's standing the test of time.

I’m no IT expert, but I think binary is exactly what computers are.

Thanks for sharing this. Having built and programmed computers for over 50 years, I am confident that they are female in behavior because they act just like my wife of almost that long a period.
Want proof? When we discovered fuzzy logic for programming decades ago, it was based upon our observations of our dear ladies attempting to solve problems. Then we tried to overcome this by creating neural networks, but sadly we discovered the connections were again giving results female in nature. Now we are working on quantum computers and I'm not sure if they are going to be male or female. My best guess is that are male because the should be able to solve complex problems ultra quick. Why not female? Simple. If they are female, they will make simple problems really, really complex very quick.
Now it is time I retire I expect. My wife finds our little artificial intelligence based robot funny, responsive, intelligent, and obedient. He (note: a male robot it seems) has all the attributes that I' told I lack. What I still can do better than the robot is ballroom dancing. He's too short being just 75mm tall while I'm 6'2" tall!

Actually, I think #5 under male cinched it for me.
Holly was male and female
