The resurgence of the Bald Eagle and the River Otter in the northern Sacramento Valley has been one of the truly hopeful occurrences in my 77 yrs here. The Otters thrive in the complex system of irrigation cannels connected to the Sacramento River and they are always a delight to see!

Enjoyed the photos and agree that they are delightful to watch - perhaps less so while having lunch. 😉

I wonder if our OP has seen a bald eagle scavenging road kill? Now that is yuck

Great shots, sharp and clear showing a wild animal going about its daily life. I sure would like to see more.

Awesome shots. I don't think I've ever seen an Otter in the wild. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Linda! I get brief sightings far more often than photo opportunities with these playful creatures. These were taken from the drivers seat of my car at one of my favorite refuges. It was a family of five and they were in a canal very close. I was shooting with a long lens and could not get wide enough to include more then two in the frame but I have more shots to work with. At one point there were three with fish in thier grasp. It was indeed a fantastic experience!

These guys do not know the meaning the term "junk fish". Thanks for the comment BB4A.

Thank you Bob. They have a talent for staying out of our sight, this was a lucky moment.
