poinsettia or Mexican flame.

thanks to the former us ambassador to mexico, dr. joel r poinsett,
who introduced the poinsettia to the united states. as a result of the
importance in the celebration of Christmas and its beautification of
America, December 12th is celebrated as national poinsettia day to
honor the passing away of dr poinsett.

my niece has numerous red ones in her tropical garden flower beds in florida.

I think I want to move to florida ! lol.

Beautiful, Merry. I have two plants in bloom that I planted after receiving them at Christmas in previous years.

I didn't know that, Merry, and poinsettias are among my favorite plants! We can grow them here on the coast, but they're always puny things compared to the ones I see for sale during the Christmas season. I'll bet your niece's garden is gorgeous as are your portraits of these beauties!!
