I just found out an interesting feature...

When using the D850 on live view mode, you can pick your focus point (mode S). The camera focuses, and takes a capture.

I just tried it to make a stack for focus...

Obviously you spend too much time posting and not enough time RTFM!

The D850 also does "in camera" focus stacks.

Rong...., I believe the D700 and D800 have that feature, as well.

It is a touchscreen feature. My D5600 and Z6 have it. My D800 not.

My D5600 has it. One of the first things I disabled - I think it was on by default.
Probably would be useful for focus stacking though.

The D850 does focus shifting. The focus stacking must be done externally with stacking software.
Panasonic (at least the LX-10) does focus stacking in camera.

That is how I intent to use this. I do not trust the auto stacking feature.

I interpreted that to mean you can touch where you want to focus the shot and then the camera takes over. focusing and capturing the image.
That is pretty 'handy". With my, now old but faithful, D600 I need to move the focus spot to where I want it, focus using BBF and then squeeze the shutter release. Maybe it's time to think about a GAS attack!

It is a great feature if you like using 'Live View'. I keep trying but ultimately put the camera up to my eye.
