Is the Nikon D7500 compatible with a Nikon ED AF Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 ? I located the lens for sale and have been told Japan glass is very good. I currently use a D7500 and would like to use this lens.
The D7500 does have the screw for autofocusing the older Nikon AF lenses. Go ahead, get the 80-200, it is a fine lens. Mind you, it will make the petite D7500 very front-heavy, and the apparent focal length will start at 120 and go to 300mm
I've been scouting/checking this lens for a long time. Based on reviews I have read, check if you would get the push/pull or the "two rings" version. The latter is preferred.
Based on all reviews, great lens, built as a tank, no VR, no AF-S.

You could have just looked in your manual under "Compatible Lenses."
Hope itβs the two-ring version.
I had the earlier one-ring sliding zoom/focus version and later the two-ring.
So much nicer to use the later one. Both very sharp though.
Thanks to all.
I couldn't find the lens I'm looking at, on the Nikon site. This is an older lens with a crinkle finish and leather case.
My manual is impossible to read because of the small size and old eyes.π΅ Thanks again for the advice.

All of the 80-200 lenses had a crinkle finish.
The link below is a pretty comprehensive comparison, Iβd say better than the Nikon site.

Go to:

To make pages larger, press Ctrl and + together, several times if needed.
When you check for lenses on Amazon they have a feature that you can check on camera compatibility.

This might help, it only includes the D7200, your camera will probably be no different.

Most manuals are available as a PDF download that can have the font enlarged.

Not a Peregrine Falcon. It is a Northern Harrier.
