I don't have a macro lense yet and can't wait to get one. In the mean time I use my Note 9. Unkowingling I was shooting in only 8 mega pixels instead of 12. I haven't done anything to the pic.

Very good detail showing in the download. There has been a lot of discussion regarding mirrorless vs dslr. I think the advances in the “ flat camera” just might be the sleeper that delivers the sucker punch. Check out “flat camera club” on Facebook for some very creative images from a cell phone. It’s run by a friend of mine, a retired member of the White House press corps, who now uses an iPhone 11 Pro max as part of the filmmaking side of his career.

A macro lens won't get you as many dragons as a medium-range zoom or prime lens. Say, 75-200mm, or 100-400mm for zoom lenses. Longer is better but it costs more. With a macro lens, you need to get in pretty close and I promise most dragonflies will fly off on you.
But of course the macro lens will work great on subjects that are not as flighty. And you get the smaller subjects wonderfully so it is a lot of fun to have that lens.
This one is a young male 'meadow hawk', but i don't know the species. As it matures, it will have a brick red color.

Thanks for your comment and view. I normally shood insects with my 150-600 mm contemperary lense which does great closeups down to the size of a bee.

Very nice capture. I agree that macro lenses work best with still subjects. I used them mostly for flowers indoors or outdoors with light winds. Only limited success with butterflies or dragonflies.
