I rarely see comments about Paintshop Pro. What are your feelings about this piece of software for post processing?
I use and like it. Fairly intuitive and lets you have pretty good control. There are some better but I'm lazy and a cheapskate. The only serious downside is the constant ads for upgrades & add-ons.

I have used it for over 20 years. I am still using the pre-Corel JASC version. It has a small footpath, and it is fast and stable. I have the latest version, but don't use it. I don't use PSP for working with raw files, but just for browsing, resizing, cloning, cropping, converting to JPEG as needed, some adjustment layer work and vector shapes and lines.
It depends upon what you want to do. Over the last few days people have asked about other programs, too, such as Luminar and Photoscape, etc. Are images just going to go online, be printed, are you working as a pro, etc. Are you working with raw files, are you interested in doing creative alterations to photos? Lots of considerations.
I started a thread to address the issue, and there is a lot of good information there about how to make the decision (rather than what your decision should be).

Have used it for a number of years, now on PP 2020, upgraded for $29, with no subscription fees like the other one. Has always been able to do anything I required and relatively intuitive.

To kill the ads if using Windows:
Open Paint Shop Pro and go to "Message Preferences" under "Help" and uncheck the 2 boxes.
Close the Program.
In Windows Explorer go to:
Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming and delete the Corel Folder

I have used PSP for many years. The downside... in 2018 the got rid of preferences and made adding plugins very difficult their so-called automation of installing from previous does not make way for new ones. I had to go the backdoor into the program's file.
Now with 2020 edition, the interface has been changed significantly... I have reverted to an older edition and to my PSE. Change is not improvement... change is perhaps desperation.

Have been using it for years As to plug-ins you simply the folder in the "File Locations" and they appear in the Effects menu. You shouldn't need a back door approach.
I use Topaz products, Nik and others. The software is great and at $29-39 for an upgrade you can't beat it.
I have used PSP for years and was always quite satisfied with it. That is, until this past December. Suddenly, I lost some aspects (Selection Tools and some add-ons). so, I decided to upgrade from 2018 to 2020. It did not load properly. Now came the crappy part. Support was useless. One said to buy the parts missing, another one said that he would get someone else to help me and never did, and a third one messed up my computer so badly that it took me about 2 hours to recover everything. I finally got someone from Canada (after many requests) who was willing to help me. I was so frustrated at that point that I turned him down. I am presently making do with my old X7 and 2018. The program itself is great. Support is in another category of thought.
I got a version of Paintshop Pro 2019 as a free download and love it I will be upgrading to the 2020 version in the near future.
PSP has been around for a long time, and it is very competent. You can buy it outright for a reasonable price and make your pictures look better. There are hundreds of hours of instructional videos available.

I have it and use it when I need to remove blemishes or to create masks or use layers. I do not use it for raw processing.
I fall into the category of :
Used PHOTOSHOP 6 at work, used PSP for at least 10 years.
It does all I need, no problems.
My usual work flow is 10 - 12 steps.
Probably don’t use 95% of what it can do.
As a design engineer, I use my photos to convey technical information to those
Who use the “plans” to do whatever.
Loved it when I had a PC - but when I went to a Mac, I discovered it wasn't supported - really missed it until I found Portrait Pro, Pixelmator, and Smart Photo Editor, all of which give me the same post processing advantages I had with the one piece of software.

Yes, in X9 that is how it worked. But then they changed so that the last 3 PSP plugins were imported.

Although I use Lightroom, Paintshop Pro will always be my favourite program. I've used it for many years - since the Jasc days. It's a great program and I find it easier to use than Photoshop.
