I couldn't decide on the color or B&W so here they both are :-)

Definitely black and white because the colors distract from the focal point--the people--which show more prominently in the black and white version.
There is also a lot of clutter in the photo, which is less noticeable in the b&w version.

Thanks, Jaymatt. I struggled with cropping this one. I want to crop out the clutter but at the same time I want to show the environment. :-)

I think that if what the two are doing were to be sharper to draw the viewer's eye amidst the environs, it would make this shot stronger in both versions.

There are several stories here. For example, the mouth mask pulled down to clear the path to the mouth. And it is a very intimate story here, as well, in sharing a meal.

The first question I ask is as to the priorities of the stories viewed.

If you have more shots, I would look for the one that shows this with the rest as the backdrop.

I prefer the color shot. Gives it a more realistic feel.

A good shot, waegwan. But I have to go with the color. I think the color gives a better separation among the elements and makes the subjects stand out. Also, the colors are harmonious with nothing loud to grab your eye. And I agree that the clutter adds to the theme-- two young people escaping briefly into their own world. That being said, the B&W version is also nice, just not quite as good.

Thanks, Steven G. I appreciate your comments and agree that under better conditions things could have been better. This is the only shot I have. This was a hipshot per se, there was little or no chance to get a better shot and I wanted to remain candid. Was walking through the market photographing the different foods being offered for my wife and saw this couple and snapped a shot without bringing the camera to my eye. I just couldn't resist trying to capture them, they look so happy to be together. :-)

Thanks, Voss. I tend to prefer the color as well. There was a bright spot to the right that I cropped out and some on top but I wanted to be careful to show the environment. Here is the original.

I can appreciate and understand. I have done that myself in the past. I had gone back and restaged a shot or two as well. A big smile always works wonders.

Yes, good cropping. And it really helped to get rid of the woman on the right. And there was way too much junk on the right.
