Luna found us, we lost her, then she found us again

In September 2017, I had just come back from a non-profit I volunteer with. We live out in the country about 30 miles from Albuquerque. It was getting dark and as I opened my car door and got out, this really nice looking Huskey just came up to me like she'd known me all her life.

She didn't have a collar on, so we decided to put her in our dog run in the back of the house (at this point we had not had a dog in over five years and were thinking seriously about looking to adopt). Our plan was to take her to the vet the next morning to see if she was chipped. Unfortunately, and to our great surprise, the next morning we discovered she had jumped the fence. We did not see her for another full year, when one day, out of the blue, she showed up in our yard again.

This time, we kept her in the house overnight and took her to the vet the next day. Sure enough she did have a chip. Long story short - the owner had moved out of state and said he'd given the dog to someone before he left, but he couldn't remember the contact info for the person he supposedly gave her to. (We think he dumped her out in the country). Anyway, he agreed to let us transfer the chip data to us and let us keep her. She has turned out to be one of the best dogs we've ever had. Gentle, obedient, and intelligent.

Her name is Luna (our name for her).

Thanks. Here's a more recent one I took on this past Christmas Eve (the day my new Canon 5D Mark IV arrived).

She came along at exactly the right time too. Our last dog, a Jack Russell named Rocky, had passed 5 years earlier and we had been talking for some time about wanting to get another dog in our lives (In our 45 years of marriage, those 5 years were the only period we didn’t have a dog).

What a great story Basil and I'm so glad she found a wonderful home, and that the original owner let you transfer info over to you. She was meant to be yours and please keep sharing her with us, she's a beauty ♥

Enjoy your new camera, I bought the 5Diii last year and love it for portraits and I also have the 7Dii for those action shots.
