This is a "before" and "after" and there were a ton of "in-betweens"- cloning, layers upon layers, and tonal contrast. It ain't perfect so don't look too closely but I'm very happy with the results.

Mike great job. Curious why you left the people on the stairs?

I wanted to leave the guy in the middle because he was the photographer of the bride and groom. The others- I guess it’s “editing fatigue”

Nice! Did you have to expose that dark in order to not blow out the brightest area?

Linda. There was a third photo that I didn’t post which was also used in this composite. But the Nik plug in Tonal Contrast does a great job at bringing up shadows and controlling highlights.

It must have been tricky lifting the shadows that much and not having lots of haziness coming through, not to mention the noise.

That was the easy part with the Nik filter. The cloning was the tough part.

Very nicely done. I have a question though for anyone to respond to. Except for removing the people could one come close to the result using HDR?

Wow, that is a boat load of cloning, and it looks good (I agree about the "other" people on the stairs...). I'm impressed.
