This Red Bellied Woodpecker landed at my wife's feet yesterday. He stayed with her for about 15 minutes then flew off to a nearby tree. He stayed around for about a half hour.

It would have been very nice to have the "story behind the Pictures".

If the bird poops on your head it's good luck.

My wife was walking across our front yard and he just came out of nowhere. We thought he was injured. She tried to get him to fly off, but he just kept gripping to her hand. Then he walked up her arm and jumped into her head. He seemed quite relaxed sitting there. She tried to put him in a tree in our yard but he kept coming back. Finally he flew up to a high branch and perched there. A few minutes later she went out to check on him and he was on the ground at the tree base. She stopped to pick him up and he flew back into the tree, and about 10 minutes later he moved on. Unusual way to end 2019. Thanks for taking time to view them.

So I'm told. It happened to me once. A seagull on the Cape Hatteras ferry.

The bird was probibly rescued from an injury and released or raised from a chick and released.
We raised and released severial as well as nursed a few back to health. I was an amature at doing so and allowed our birds to become dependent/to relaxed around humans. After reintruducing them to the wild it took a while for them to go back to being afraid of humans.

And did all this shameless buttering up of the human get an abundance of bird seed, peanuts and other treats?

Nice pictures - and it resulted in a great story in answer to: "And so how did your day go?"

The birds in our yard probably eat better than most people I know. Thanks for viewing them.
