put some bird seed out and a scraggly little friend came to visit.
Poor little guy looks pretty abused or maybe just wet. Maybe just homeless and in need of some warm milk and cookies. I'm sure your birdseed will have him looking better quickly.
Cute bird, and very interesting image bokeh, please tell me more about how it as shot and processed.

Hi Hereford, it rained all morning, but the shot was in the evening, he might have cleaned up in a puddle. Was very active and kept yelling at me to get away from the seed. The only ones more fearless than the chickadees are the crazy nuthatches.

hi par4fore. These are crops from a handheld 600 mm at maybe 20 feet - the last of the sun was peeking over and lit up the bird from the front, coming from behind me.
The DOF was very narrow with aperture set at 6.3. I helped blur the background some in post processing. I lifted the shadows, and pulled back the highlights. Using a luminosity mask on the brights, I added camera raw texture. The shadows got noise reduction and a little coolness. I placed a texture on top in screen mode (screen cause the image was kind of dark) and masked out some of the bird and messed with contrast a little bit to restore a little bit of punch.
