Order in which flash and camera are turned on and off.
Does anyone turn their hot shoe mounted flash and camera on and off in a particular order? I was reading the instructions for my new Nikon SB-5000 flash. It says to turn the camera on first and then turn the flash on. Does it really make a difference? I've had an SB-700 for years and have never really made a concerted effort to follow a specific order.
I have always turned the camera on before the flash and turn them off in reverse order. Never had a problem but did not know that was a recommended pattern.
I'm not a Nikon shooter and never heard of that for any camera/flash system.
Here's a guess only, it might have something to do with a possible voltage spike hitting the camera circuit.
When I did use a Nikon, I seem to remember turning the flash on and off any time I felt like it, just like you did.

I always go in the order the items are placed, that means, what's on top is turned ON/OFF first and so on. If I have a flash in the hot shoe, I turn it on/off first, if its a remote thats controlls all of it, than that's the "top" accessory! Canon has the same recommendations!
Thank you for all of the responses. There seem to be two different procedures described here.
