They're a team. If the washer doesn't get it the dryer will. Use to have these little plastic things to keep the socks together but the doggone machines learned how to pull them apart.

Thanks for the info. The stress of the magical sock had me dreading wash day. Now I know it is not just me. Being a bachelor, I try to keep things simple. Buy white socks by the dozen, throw the old ones away. Now and then I'll wash 24 white socks and get back 23 white and a blue one.
