She should be the new owner of the entire town!
Wow!!! That was some nightmare. I agree with Graybeal, she should own the town. Hope she wins

Ridiculous - I hope she is able to recover damages directly from the people who treated her like this, but I'm sure it will be the insurance company who ends up paying!
A lot of strange things here. Some of which sounds fishy on both sides. She apparrently sould be compensated for her treatment but I don't believe someone should get $70 mill for that. How about $50-100 K for her, a "reasonable" amount for her attourneys (not 30%) and give the remaining $69 mill to charity?
Anybody out there remember Germany in 1933???
Hi Everyone, I live just outside of New Orleans, La. Following Hurricane Katrina, a group of people, who were marooned on the East side of the Dangier Bridge attemped to cross the bridge to seek aide, food and medical care on the New Orleans side. The people came under fire from 7 police officers, killing one retarded boy, a womans arm was blown off by a policemans shotgun, and several more were wounded. The State of Louisiana prosecuted all seven officers and dismissed all the charges. The Federal Government did file charges against the 7, and all were found guilty of Civil Rights violations. The 7 officers planted evidence, lied, and tried all sorts of tactics to cover up the events. The City of New Orleans, the State of Louisiana are on the hook for millions of dollars to be paid to the victumns. The account of what happened to the person here is not beyond belief. 70 million will punish the town, county, and State for hiring these thugs with badges. More lawsuits should be brought to keep police under control. BTW, if the police of Germany of 1933 had done this, the woman would have never been heard of again, and her children would have rotten in a Gostopo jail.
A lot of communities are self-insured. That would punish not only the people involved in the complaint, but also the entire population of the town. Better to go after the individuals, IMHO.

Seems like there is more than one side to this story, isn't that amazing. Lawyers get richer.

Does ANYBODY actually believe everything Snopes.com posts??
That is just another PERSONAL website run by 2 people with THEIR views and "research". Personally, I feel that most everything there is their personal, biased versions of what is posted. NOT to be trusted as a REAL view.

Absolutely correct. Cannot be trusted.
I think it just makes people feel like they've done their "homework" if they check any "fact checker" website.
Our world is filled and overflowing with liars and deceptions, gotta really dig in deep these days in any attempt to find the real truth about anything.
Woody, all I know about 1933 is that was the year I was born...
That is really sad, like she was in Syria or something.

I posted snoped for you to read and hopefully do your own research. We tend to believe the first claim someone makes. The article has a couple of things that concerned me. The story could be true or not. Maybe one day we will find out.
