If you select small raw it is lossy. There is no point.

If you are referring to small (JPG) it will be a poor representation of the raw file. There is also no point.

7) Summary (from the link above)
To summarize all of the above, one could state that the sRAW format is simply a marketing gimmick. It is not a useful format by any means, so you should avoid using it on your camera at all costs and rather shoot with a smaller RAW format instead, which will give you full resolution and way more data at the same bit rate. On a positive note, if Nikon and Canon introduce a secondary JPEG format based on sRAW compression hardware instead of regular 8-bit JPEG, that would be a welcome change. With the progress of modern wide gamut monitors, 8-bit JPEGs just don’t cut it anymore…

You didn't say which camera. On my canon raw +jpeg is always regular raw and large jpeg. You have to read your manual or tell which camera.

In general though no, small jpeg does not automatically mean small raw..

On the Nikon D500 and D850 the image size is set separately for RAW and JPG. On the D7200 there is only one setting for image size. I would think that is for both.

I learned my lesson early on choosing small to save storage space on my SD card. I was shooting jpg, and it was my first digital, a Kodak EasyShare, 1,000 images in two weeks. Now I have 1,000 images that I so wish I had shot full size.
Storage is cheap cimpared to the loss of data you might regret in the future if you use the small option.

Raw will be the same size file whether you shoot only raw or raw + jpeg. Jpeg will be small in the case you are giving, but unless you have a use for a small jpeg, you would be wasting space as the result is best used for web uploads, but not printing very large.

Ken are you using the Olympus EM10? Do you have the 171-page user manual? In pdf form on your computer, it is handy to reference via word searches.

On page 60 is your answer. Better still, for questions like this you should rely on hands-on testing, not answers from people whose cameras may be nothing like yours. I had no idea 'til recently that some cameras do have raw size/quality choices 🤔 But not our EM10's.

It'll be smaller than it would be set to large!

I only shoot "only JPEG" when I shooting for my wife's blog where I know for absolutely sure I will use the photo for absolutely nothing else. Otherwise, I will shoot JPEG+RAW or just RAW (and definitely not sRAW; one shoots RAW so they have all the possible data). As I agreed with another UHHer, chips are relatively cheap. Save money in other areas, not at the cost of your image's quality.

Record images, read data !

Or ask a bunch of "online experts", many of
whom are guessing, or have misread your
query, etc etc.

Not too sure about other cameras but on a Sony full frame camera, RAW files come in two sizes; full frame and crop mode. Small, Medium, Large apply to JPG files only. I shoot RAW+JPG. RAW for postprocessing and JPG for a fast review.
