Giant Sequoia and a logging truck loaded with sugar pine and fir logs. The bunk logs are 33 feet long and just over two of them are taking up about 86 inches of width. The Giant Sequoia is a young tree probably less than 500 years of age. Taken in the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains over 15 years ago.

why do humans murder trees????????????
Why does nature murder trees? Why do people die? Cows, deer, elk & moose eat grasses, forbes and small trees. Trees aren't murdered, they are utilized because they regenerate just like all of nature. Think about it, all things die, why? Seems like nature needs to make room for the next generation. That massive redwood tree is going to die with or without man's deliberate action. It will not be harvested by man's cutting because it is protected by law and because it has no economic value. Trees that are harvested are harvested for the benefit of man. Your paper towels, tissues, cardboard boxes, home framing, some plastics (most plastics are a product of oil), fencing... . Did you see all the trees surrounding the Giant Sequoia and the logs going to market to make cabinets, pianos and homes? That's a lot of trees, and many will die, not because of man but because they are being starved out by the larger, stronger trees. Introduction to Forest Management 101.
