A friends daughter.... 1.2m Octabox just off to my right on a 200w studio light just popping a little light... Trying as much as possible to get it in camera...… Did process a little on some eye circles / stray hairs and a little hard shadow just below the mouth … The stray hairs was all down to me not spotting before I took the shot which cost 10 minutes of edit time correcting If I'd had a brush it and 30 seconds it would have been 10 minutes saved..….Have included the untouched file too …. Was considering adding a warm tonal overlay next....

To me, her hand coming in from nowhere is a little odd. There's no connection with the rest of the young lady. Some of her fingers are hidden giving the appearance of being amputated. If her hand is going to be there, I would include all of her arms at least down to the waist. Also get her to not curl her fingers away like that.

I thought this was the Professional and Advanced Portraiture section??

The general rule is don't crop at a joint so you would only need half an arm in effect..... As its only a guideline its not really a deal breaker for me personally Co …. I'm also comfortable with the image as is so not really after critique..

Regards
Joe

Hi Frank

Its a portrait.... in the portrait section... Sorry to be blunt with the answer.

The forum general rules do state if you don't want critique or editing then as long as you let people know its acceptable are you now implying to post you must accept critique & editing or not post??.... IMHO critique & editing cause more trouble on this forum than they are worth with most critique just opinion without any logic or grounding towards becoming a better photographer... When the critic isolates a minor part of an image with statements like "I maybe nitpicking because I cant find....." I find to be ..I criticise because I can … Rather than I criticise because of a need... So on this basis I prefer to post images if someone finds them interesting and asks about the lighting the model or the camera technique then we have a result... If someone gets a smile on their face its an added bonus... I get my critique from individuals I highly respect who pull no punches so I personally don't need the critique hence my signature....

Regards
Joe

Love the pic; beautiful little girl. She has an "old skool" quality about her yet is clearly contemporary. Nice level of post, too.
