In observing all the shots posted here it led me to wonder how many people have profiled their monitors and in their opinion which is the best system to use
Without knowing I'll go with less then 15%. This is the exact reason why I am somewhat uncomfortable at being too sure of what I am looking at. There are of course other variables such as PPI and file sizes and resolution in regard to electronic display. Even printed matter can vary greatly as they have there own variables.
Most of us probably don't know how to do this... I know I don't and if anyone could post how it is done, it would help a lot! Thanks in advanced!
I use the Spyder 3 colorimiter with Color Eyes Display Pro. Spyder is great and the CEDP software gives you a lot more info than Spyder's software. It was worth the investment to me. I'm not a pro, but a do a few weddings and some portraits each year. You definitely need a calibrated monitor!
I use colormunki and I don't think many people calibrate their monitors, printers or cameras. This tends to be a more advance mode of thinking that falls in the pro range .
This doesn't mean that beginners can't or don't, but they usually have a lot of their plate getting a better grip on the camera and it's functions.
my .02 milage may vary
I use a Pantone Huey II. It's not that expensive and does what I need. It made a huge difference in my 8x10 prints.
