I would like to invest in a digital picture frame. However, many of the products I have looked at play to mixed reviews.
Is anyone using a digital frame and are pleased with the product?
Thanks
Ron

I have been using a large 15" model that I picked up a couple of years ago that does a nice job for what I paid for it ($99). It displays in 4:3 aspect ratio which works great for most shots. Here's a link for a comparable model http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2233779&Sku=A617-1210 " rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2233779&Sku=A617-1210
I think most any model will do a nice job and unless you want all the bells and whistles, a basic model will do.

I think he's talking about hardware not software.

I looked at a number of digital frames a year ago, looked at models in BB and Beyond, Best Buy, Walmart. etc... the biggest problem is the varying degrees of brightness.. some are down right terrible. After quite a bit of research I bought Sony and it is beautiful. Go to the Sony website and check them out. I bought a 10 inch model DPF something for around $130... very extensive features and a beautiful display for you pictures... you will pay more for the Sony but well worth it. Hope this helps..

Mine is about five years old now, but I really enjoy it - I keep it at work. I just never seem to get around to changing the photos on it. I see now they have picture frames that you can wirelessly transfer pictures to the frame. In my opinion that would be a great feature.

i also have one,but the cats got to close to it and knocked it down. Thus busted the stand behind it that holds it up-right.
I should probably buy a small easel to place it on.

was given one by my daughter about 4 years ago, It's only about 4x6 but I have it on a wall in my office and it has been on since I have had it.

Something else I have done at home...I have the screen saver for my computer set up so all my photos for the past 10 years play as a slideshow.

That's something I discovered a couple of months ago, not really into playing around with the computer, but this has been a great feature! I've got my best shots on and get tons of compliments from everyone who sees it. Can't carry it around, but it sure is great and beats having to drag out the photo albums!

but can you go directly to a specific photo, or do you have to let it play the slideshow till it gets to the photo you want to see?

As far as I know you have to let it play through. If you see a photo you want to go back to you can use the left arrow key, and I think if you use the right arrow key it will advance to the next, but depending how many photos are in the file you've selected that may be impractical. You can also make smaller folders if you just want specific photos to show, such as just pics from Aunt Bertha's wedding.

I used to have one, but sold it because it was a pin to keep it up to date with my latest works. Now I put my best stuff on my smartphone and use it to show potential buyers and clients. It's much easier to keep current.

I prefer Tiger Direct to CompUSA as they have the SAME inventory but Tiger does NOT have Tax!

Check these two out:

I Dec 2009 bought a 15" Sunpak digital photo frame from Tiger - - resolution was 1024 x 768 in a 4x3 aspect ratio, 450:1 contrast ratio. I resize and rotate my images to fit, then transfer to named folders with sub-folders with max 49 images per folder.

Image navigation is a bit of a pain, however image quality and longevity has been great. I paid $99 on sale at the time. I don't think this model is available any more - but who knows?
