Continuing on a recent thread about declining bird populations, I thought this article was of value plus it suggests some things to do to help slow the decline. Plus,I might add, continuing to take pictures of them and not shooting them.

I wonder how much of the population los is attributable to the turbines on electric wind farms...

Or pesticides on plants, feral cats.
We should stop eating the juncos, warblers, sparrows, and finches mentioned in the article.

Er,what?

Who's eating those birds?

And what does your comment have to do with mine?

- I was being facetious as the highest loss in birds seems to be not caused directly by humans, as in hunting to extinction like that one pigeon was in England. No one normally bothers those species.

- Turbines are killing birds, so are pesticides. Birds eat the bugs that have the pesticides in them. (Indirectly by humans.) I don't think turbines are eliminating entire species, unless they only live where turbine farms are located. Pesticides probably have a higher impact.

Besides the direct impact of the poisons on all (us included) the poisons are killing off the bugs and other "food chain" creatures in huge numbers, and many birds eat bugs and other small critters. We must change our ways, there is nothing natural about these huge declines, the rising temps, lack of clean water, deforestation/wildfires will only accelerate the process. Most wind turbines I've seen did not move fast enough to be an issue, plus there just aren't that many. As a target gun shooter/airgunner I quit several airgun forums because of the attitude about shooting "pesky" songbirds, as I found the attitude moronic, and is illegal in the US.

If you want to save the birds, get rid of cats.

Feral cats and housecats that run loose are a big problem (until housecats get older and don't chase anymore)....the coyotes have just about eliminated the feral cat problem here.

Worldwide Human Overpopulation and Worldwide Human Overconsumption is destroying Habitat and Birds and other Animals and Plants will continue to decline or go extinct...An Ever Expanding Economy depends on an Ever Expanding Human Population and Ever Expanding Consumption which in a Finite World is already leading to Disaster...We need to Stabilize Human Populations, Stabilize Human Consumption, Stabilize Economies and Governments Worldwide...

It has to be man's fault, just not discussed which group of humans is at fault... Kinda hush hush on daily use of geoengineering, or is it your car doing, ops: must not talk about it....
So much so we now have wonderful new Ai applications that replace the sky, yes the sky, I wonder why, end of the rime for this time.

According to a recent study by National Geographic, feral and house cats kill more birds than all other causes, combined.

I wonder how many birds are lost by habitat loss, another subdivision, one more shopping center and before long we are talking about a serious loss of places for birds to live and thrive.

Bit of a suspect organisation, looking at wind turbines in the UK birds just fly through the blades. Chemical use of insect pesticides are probably the main cause which escalates up the food chain

Does that mean the remaining dinosaurs are headed to extinction?
