The Professional and Advanced Portraiture Section- NOTICE.
Hi Folks,
For users of the Professional and Advanced Portraiture section. There have been some activities on this section that may necessitate significant revision of the rules and policies therein, perhas a change in the basic concept thereby making it more specific in a number of areas. Going forward, some of the following changes are under consideration; a renaming of the section, a differet critiquing format, and a very stringent policy against unpleasant exchanges, a workshop format to encourage more participation, more specific critiquing criteria- and no "attaboy or attagirl" comments without some constructive comments.
For the time being, the section will remain open but new rules and policies will be posted shortly. If theses changes prove to be ineffective, the sectio may be taken down while a replacement or overhauled version is formulated.
Interested parties can post their suggestions in the section- your participat will be greatly appreciated and your ideas will be part of the eventual outcome. The section is accessible in the "All Sections" category on the UHH home page or you can post here if you wish.
Let's see how it goes and then I will contact the administrator with my suggestions.
Best wishes for your plans and goals, Ed. You are a valued member of the forum and your efforts are much appreciated.
As we know, the overwhelming majority of UHH members seem to never stray from main discussion forum and Photo Gallery, even with 30+ sections to choose from!
Although I'm a single vote here Ed, please don't let any recent incidents damper this section. I've valued your input and without you at the helm, that section would fold. The majority of UHH seems to be avian, landscape and some macro but there are few dedicated individuals that see portraiture as an artform and recognize the immense amount of effort in making an image creative and your endless years of experience and education to help use grow.

Yours is not a single vote, Haydon. Yours is one among many, however unapparent that may ordinarily appear. Please don't think that others --myself included-- fail to recognize portraiture not only as an artform, but one that informs our varied pursuits, or what at first blush might appear to be other than a picture of a human face.
Form, texture, light, pose, essence, creativity (if there truly is such a thing), and the eyes and minds to seek and learn (and sometimes reject the least of) these things: aren't those what any of us is out to find? Regardless the genera?
And Ed: keep doing what you do so well. There might be more who listen than may be 'obvious.'
