I have a PC w/windows 10 ... after I upgraded the most current version of Photoshop a couple weeks ago I noticed that the program was running very slow, Example: regardless what editing operation I try to do (white balance, exposure, contrast & etc.) it takes 5 - 15 seconds to take effect, the program is almost worthless in its current state of operation.
I have deleted and re-installed PS on my computer, no change.
A couple of weeks ago I asked you hoggers for assistance, a couple of people responded, bot the suggestions did not work, so I'm asking again ... appreciate any help you can offer.

Aso, I don't seem to be able contact Adobe about the problem?? Frustrated!!
Thanks

Your best bet remains contacting Adobe. Use the technical support chat, assuming you're a subscriber to the software or this relates to your recent questions about PSE 2020.

I do not share CH_Cannon's good experience experiences with Adobe tech support. After rummaging around in PS for several hours they did not fix the problem additionally it took me a couple of days to find and fix all the changes.

A description of your system will help others who are sure to ask.

Before using them I would, in PS, go to Edit/Preferences/Performance and check to see how much memory is allocated to PS also check the Graphics Processor setting. Also while in Preferences check the Scratch Disk setting and make sure you have several Gigs available on the chosen drive.

If that doesn't help maybe other Hoggers will have better ideas. Adobe support only after ALL other resources have been explored. JMHO

Thanks, below are my settings:
Performance - 17970 MB (out of 32 MB installed in the computer
Graphics processor is in the on position (tried it both ways - no difference
Scratch disks - have 4 internal hards drive installed - 3 terrabytes available on drive D, 1.7 terrabytes on drive F
so far the settings I checked look good ...
still looking ...

Sorry I guess it was an idea that didn't work. You may have to risk Adobe tech support, best of luck

Use the chat, or call them on the phone, they are usually very responsive and their customer service is quite good!

Just curious, have you updated your Windows OS lately, if you haven't then I would give that a try. I have had similar problems with my Photoshop CC after they roll out a new update and the Windows OS update seems to help.

Photoshop should not be installed on the same disk as the OS and the scratch disk should not use the disk with the OS on it either. Also Microsoft allows you to ‘move’ your Default Pictures Folder to another drive. It moves the default location and current contents. Right click on pictures in the file explorer window select properties then location and click move.

After the current issue is resolved, consider a graphics card. I recently added one to my already robust system. It made a huge difference.

Hi I noticed all of the sudden after the last upgrade things were hanging up a little also checked how much Photoshop was using of my memory and it was set at 65% I really think the upgrade changed it from 85% I had set so I changed it back to 85% again and things are back to normal now

What version of Photoshop are you running? Are other progams similarly slow? How much RAM is installed (gb not mb these days), Total Disk Space vs Free space on each volume - what CPU are you running, what GPU are you running, how big and where is your scratch disk, etc - you need to be quite specific in order to get meaningful answers - from this forum or anywhere else, including Adobe. Your best bet with Adobe is to open a chat.

Also - use Quote Reply, not just Reply, when responding to a question - this important so that we know who you are responding to.

Why shouldn't Photoshop be installed on the same disk as the OS? I store my OS and applications on one disk but my data is stored on another. My scratch disk is stored on my fastest drive which happens to be the same disk my OS and applications are on.

Try to contact Adobe again and use the Chat feature. They can take control of your computer and change settings as needed. I did this about a year and a half ago when Adobe did a major change to Photoshop and I couldn't load any of my raw images. They took control of my computer as I watched what they were doing and they downloaded the most current video drivers for my computer and installed them. Photoshop worked flawlessly after that.
