Such a beautiful animal. Have not heard of coy wolf before
I agree, he is stunning. A state biologist told me just over 100 years ago, Coyotes were all but killed off in New England. Coyotes from the west migrated east looking for new hunting grounds. On their way, the females mated with Gray Wolves, in the northern U.S. and Canada. This created a hybrid called the Coy-Wolf. They are much larger than the average Coyote. This one has the long legs of a Wolf. Gary
That guy sure is a beauty. Surprised he was sleeping in the open -- maybe soaking up some vitamin D. I would guess he is fairly young based on his excellent dental work.
I tip toed up on this Coy-Wolf while he was sleeping. It took 45 minutes for him to wake up. When he woke up, he shook off the snow, stretched and yawned several times. He finally spotted me (after 400 shots) and casually walked into the woods. Hope you enjoy. Gary
Gary, these are terrific photographs! Well done! Is there any chance of me republishing them on my blog, Learning From Dogs, properly attributed, of course?

I've seen him three times in the almost 2 years that I've known he was in the area. Once was a glimpse before he trotted off into the woods. The other two times he has been sunning himself. I think he loves being in the sun. Where he was, is a small meadow, surrounded by woods. In a second, he could be gone. I was thinking the same thing about his teeth. Gary

Lovely set. You'd think he'd choose a hidden place for sleeping.
