I am not shooting raw. I have a Lumix DC-ZS 70.
What size card - GB - is generally recommended. I am fearful of having a very large one in case it gets corrupted.

You answered your own question - shoot whatever size you feel comfortable, dependent on the shoot, and how often you transfer the photos from the card. When I travel I use to shoot with 8 Gb cards, changing out a card every evening. Figured if I ever got a corrupt one, lost it, etc. I only lost a day's shoot. I now tend to use 16 or 32 Gb and get two days shooting, just easier and high-quality cards seem more reliable today. Plus that is a sweet spot for best prices.

If you are not shooting RAW, a 16gb or 32gb will give you more than enough storage for JPEG files. I just purchased two each SanDisk 32gb, Class 10, Ultra SD cards, along with other items, for about $7 each, from B&H Photo Shop. You are not going to save much money by buying a 8gb SD card. 16gb or higher is the preferred memory cards today. I always recommend that photographers have an extra SD card, and a spare battery. If your camera shoots video, a 32gb should be considered. That is, if you decide to shoot video?

Welcome to the forum.

I use four 8Gb and six 16Gb cards.
My camera will not support 32Gb or higher.
Which is okay, as I won't put "everything" on one card either.

And generally, this is a good idea. Smaller cards, change them out often. This way, if a card does get corrupted, you have backup images as well. A good way to avoid getting corrupted files though is to format the card prior to each use. I have shot digital for 20 years now (So long in fact, I still have a few 32 and 64MB Compact Flash cards laying around!) and do this every time I load a card into a camera, and have never had a corruption happen.

I only shoot with relative small sized cards, ranging from 16 to 128GB, and many of them are close to a dozen years old, so they've been formatted thousands of times. I never had a card go bad on me yet!

I break my shooting day into 4 hour blocks. After that I replace the card with a fresh one. That way the most I will lose is 4 hours of shooting if something goes wrong. If doing an assignment I will swap out cards as the events change during the day. Not a perfect system by works for me.

I use cards that range form 16 to 32GB in my SD1 slot. In the SD2 slot I will use a 64GB as set up the camera to write to both cards when shooting. Thus I also have a backup in one place if needed.

I have a Lumix ZS50 and a ZS60 and have used 16 GB cards in both of them for several years with no problems. They are inexpensive and hold a ton of .jpg's.

The manual will tell you what kind of cards are approved. I find 32GB to be plenty, although I do have some 64GB cards.

I use 32GB cards, I've never filled one in a days shoot.

I only own one SanDisk 64gb Class 10 Ultra SD card. Got it for the price of a 32gb, from Best Buy Store, two years ago, because they sold out of 32gb SD cards. Now, for holiday prices, you can get that 64gb SanDisk SD card, from B&H for only $11.49+ sales tax. I prefer 32gb over 64gb.
