Camera Stores in Atlanta and Raleigh, NC

Have any members shopped at Southeastern Camera or Peace Camera? I am looking for a mirror less camera for my wife and will be in the Raleigh area the day after Christmas. There are no camera stores close to Augusta, GA.

I will look into KEH in Atlanta and would be interested in comments on them as well and that will require a day trip. My wife cannot hold my Canon full frame and my crop sensor 7D II is too heavy for continued use.

KEH is not a 'store'. I spoke to them recently about needing some film while passing through the ATL area. They can pull something from inventory if you bought it via their website and can have it available for pick-up within 24hrs. But, they don't intend you to do any shopping physically onsite.

I use Southeastern Camera... but the Carrboro (Chapel Hill) store. I've never been to the Raleigh store... since the Carrboro store is 2 miles from house. But I will say that they are top notch. They are a real camera store... not a store that happens to sell cameras... if you know what I mean. Not like a Best Buy... that happens to sell cameras but really doesn't know anything about them.

I once went in to (possibly) buy some camera accessory and they convinced me that I really didn't need it and would be wasting my money... for example.

They also have a lot of used equipment. I also bought a used DSLR for my daughter... and shipped to to CT. She loves it.

I would have full confidence with Southeastern camera.

There are no true camera stores in / around Atlanta. About the best you will find is “Best Buy” and they have pumped up their displays and in stock items. I recommend them to actually pick up the actual camera.

Thanks for that advice. My wife needs to "hold" a camera to find an appropriate fit.

Biggs Camera in Charlotte is good if you are driving and passing through. I deal with George there...

I will second that. I bought a Nikon lens from there. Lots of very helpful staff supplement the good collection of equipment.

FWIW: I love my Olympus e-m5 Mark II and III cameras. Very easy to hold and can get as advanced as you want when you’re ready. Great image stabilization and image quality. I’m a former Nikon shooter.

Thanks everyone for your responses, they were most helpful. I contacted Sourtheastern and spoke to one of the sales folks and he did not have exactly what we are interested in but he is ordering and will keep in stock until we get there. I could give no guarantee of a sale and he said, that's OK it's something we will keep in stock. Can't beat that kind of customer service.

Southeastern Camera (IMHO) is the top camera store in the Raleigh area. Their staff are very knowledgeable and do not try to rush you into a sale and will take the time to listen to you. Well worth a visit. The store front is 90 degrees to the road, so keep your eyes open to find it. It's on the left as you head into town. Happy shopping.
