A perfect presentation of a very desolate landscape. You caught the feeling of hopelessness. And still, the composition could not be better. WOW!

A10 above said that they all enjoyed all your landscapes but didn't always comment. I am in the same situation. I look at this image and wonder how many people would drive right on by and not even notice it. I am guessing you stopped on a small bridge that crosses the creek in your photograph and made your image. However it came about, it sure is a keeper.

Rodeo.... yeah, thanks & all that nice stuff. Hope you won't take that '& all that nice stuff' quip in a way I don't intend, but....

The ME-ness of ego likes that nice stuff, those comments. How can it not? That's what it was designed to do. Its biology. Or evolution. Or mentation, on the left hemisphere (or was that the right hemisphere? what day is it???) of the brain. Or whatever it is. And I'm in no way immune to any of that.

But the comments the part of me that isn't my ego likes best are the ones that --like 19photo30's comment-- say what they've seen or felt or imagined they've seen or felt, in an image, even if what they've seen isn't remotely close to what I saw while shooting the scene, and my feeling and theirs is diametrically opposite. Its hard to define/describe exactly, but times I've tried, tried to write it on these pages, I've only failed. By 'my ego's' fragile standards at any rate. As a result, what I've learned is that its best not to claim or state or imply anything's beautiful or ugly or real or documentary or SOOC or manipulated or anywhere in-between, because if somebody doesn't misconstrue the assertion, I probably will. Conversely there's Karin, who loves gnarly trees, and I really, really LIKE that she likes gnarly trees, because I do too. And there's folks like A10, too. Like 10, I look at a lot of stuff here on the hog, but I don't often comment. Sometimes, its all I can do not to comment.

I've been to the place in the image many times. I've shot it plenty. I keep going back to the place because its sort of like home: its comfortable and a little bit of a challenge (a challenge that, unlike home, includes requiring sufficient situational attention to keep the physical me --not the ego me-- from kneeling down onto a fresh cow pie or backing up into a cactus, or landing wrong on the easy hop across the stream [ok, that would be an ego thing...]), and always a challenge to say something other than I've already said in a place that nobody else goes or says a word.

But I digress. Thanks, Rodeo.
