After reading the articles, I can understand the bad reviews and comments. To me photography is not something that is done with such a strict time limitation and tight restrictions. The restriction on what one must or must not have to attend the photographer tour along with the time limit for taking photos deters me from wanting to participate. I like to take my time and at least try to compose my photos with different angles and viewpoints. Bottom line is, I probably won't be visiting Antelope Canyon for photographs.

Twice I have tried to get in to shoot Antelope Canyon, but because of HUGE tour groups and limited time slots was never able to get in during optimum light times. The tribes have been killing photo opportunity times there for many years for the sake of profiting on the location. I gave up trying 9 years ago.

Go as a person, take photographer out of you title. This is nature for all to see and shoot photos without setup.

I went in late September. The tour group was full, but of reasonable size, and the guide was knowledgeable. I got great photos without a tripod.

I really donā€™t understand the ado about this so-called problem. The canyons are there for everyone to see and appreciate, so I donā€™t think we as photographers are any more special than anyone else.

Iā€™ve been too many places where photographers with their ā€œbig rigsā€ try to muscle through crowds to the front with their ā€œitā€™s ok; Iā€™m with the bandā€ attitude when in reality they arenā€™t any better than anyone else wanting to take a look. I have had this happen to me on occasion when I wanted to take a shot but only had my phone with me. My reply has always been something to the effect of ā€œyou arenā€™t any better than anyone else, buddy, so just get in line.ā€ That kind of comment usually gets met with grumbling scowls.

Iā€™ll get off my soapbox now.

Visited here in 2018 while being part of the photography tour. Great experience. No rushing. Group size was 6. All the articles Iā€™ve read just mention the upper canyon. Are photography tours still ongoing in the lower canyon?

I've seen a lot of photos of Antelope Canyon. I've heard it said that they all look the same. Tend to agree.

They might all look the same but looking at pictures versus being there taking pictures... priceless
