Retired twice, and still working part-time! Just not ready for the rocking chair yet. I am one of those individuals that needs to be doing something or I get bored and eat (and I don't need that). This part-time job (driving a school bus) gives me a reason to get up and get to moving in the morning (and like Jerry I get time to take a nap when I need it). Been doing this since 2007 and I said it was an education then, and still is today! Well I have about 25 minutes to get dressed and out the door! :)

I explained to my wife that retirement means one-third the money and three times the husband. "Keep working" she advised me!
I retired from Northrop at 55, after 25 years. Retirement lasted 4 months and I went back to work. I now work as a contract engineer traveling every few years across the country.
I loved my job but recognized that the physical and mental demands were exceeding my abilities as I aged, so retired before I killed a patient. I miss the thrill of problem-solving and manual dexterity, but not the early hours and long days.

It's fun. Mine was kind of forced (End of Space Shuttle Program - and about 60% less work force at KSC/Cape Canaveral, and after that some health issues that at the time prevented me from working for about a year and a half....when I got well, the work was much farther away, would have required relocation, was tired of that....and I discovered I like retirement!! There is plenty to do everyday!

One thing I like about being retired is not having to get up early and go to work. I also like taking a nap if I feel like it. And, when I wake up from the nap - I don't have to go to work. I got up at 4:00 this morning, and it's time for a nap.
Been retired for a year and a half. Getting off the toxic hamster wheel was the best thing I have ever done.
I should have listened to my wife years ago.
I have enjoyed my retirement for 12 years now, even though it was for medical reasons and it took a while, but I finally started to enjoy it.

I've been retired for 16 years. Do I miss working? Nope.

It's nice when you can retire under your one terms. I did * at 75 *. My work which I really enjoyed was finished (my project was finished). I had two really great retirement parties. Good financial setup. Left and never looked back. It helps when you have "a life" after retirement. Maybe a couple of really fun things to occupy yourself with (I have 3 one of them involving exercise - bike riding).
YES I have been retire for a total of 23yrs - at 55 I had to retire from the grocery business because I had both knees replaced after working in the stores from age 14 to 55- I was off 3 yrs and went back to work as a meat salesman at 62 my legs told me to retire early - well SS took into consideration I had gone to Adult Ed - took office skills and had gone to work at a new occupation - for those efforts they gave me 65 benefits - it has been 20 wonderful years of not having an alarm clock or boss to answer. As for naps I never take one - my first 5 yrs of retirement was spent in a beach front cabana 30 mi south of Cancun,MX where I only took 2 "siestas" - I spend time in deep thought and meditation - but no naps -

Retired in '72 with 24 yrs USN. The first couple of years I kind of missed it but then you move on. That's the point "move on", keep moving in mind and action not necessarily in location and stay on the green side of the grass.
