When eggs for some Macleays Spectre stick insect that bought in February hatched.
Seven months after due date. Had written them off.
They hatch in 30 or 40 days or less, usually.
Seller had told me my non hatching eggs were killed by me. Too hot or cold or wet or dry or something. Bull-.
So they are hatching as of 7 December. Five or more to date. Very active. I am trying recommended food, rose, privit, a couple more.
They drink, but not sure if they are eating anything yet.
One hatched but was dead. That one has Gary's name on it for some macrostacks, if he doesn't mind.
They amaze one with the amount of mass that comes out of the egg. This will be interesting if I can get them to thrive. Then like when I raised hissing cockroaches. Started with two females and one male. One year and I had dozens of adults and hundreds of young. Too many too quick. And they are two plus inches when grown. Went to feed turtles in a kids museum where I sometimes help with husbandry of the very mini zoo they have.
Sidetracked. The photos.
Critique welcome.

I am having a communication problem here. Bear with me.
I keep breaking off?..
These are just out. About a half inch long.
Look close. They look to mimic scorpions with the curled tail.

Oh so cool! I'd love to have one. I raised to different kinds of stick insects (illegally) once. It was so much fun and their eggs are so cool!!! I hope yours survive!!
An excellent specimen for sure and a very good job all around of finding, rearing and photographing.
I read that Macleays Spectre stick insects feed on Bramble or Oak but I have no personal experience. I follow with interest, well done for waiting for them.
Very cool! Fingers crossed. You know what to do. Humidity is important, but not too much.
