Looking for a good iOS app for taking a pictures of the moon. One that will show phases of the moon, and location of where it will be coming up on the horizon.

Not an app but shows the moon phases for the entire month. Click on the date and it will bring up more information like percentage of moon illumination and the time the moon will be visible.

Another vote for TPE--The Photographers Ephemeris. For your phone the app costs money, for a laptop or desktop it is free.

There is an IOS app call "Planets app" that shows the moon, sun, planets and constellations. It has a visibility section than shows the rise and set times of the planets and moon. If you tap on the moon it shows the current lunar phase, when the moon will be full, first quarter, new and last quarter. It also uses the location and orientation of the phone to show a sky map of wherever you are pointing the phone. This includes aiming the phone in any direction including looking below the horizon so you can see where the moon (and any other object will rise). I think it costs about 3 bucks in the app store.
