As you are about to change the rules in this section from the General UHH rules to allow anyone to edit our copyrighted images …
Can you Clarify What date this starts...
How will you prevent / police images posted prior to this rule change from being edited?? against Copyright
Can you confirm that if I have a signature that says NO EDITING MY IMAGES ... My work is copyrighted… will this be ignored?? or honoured

IMHO the only way you can achieve this is to start another section with the new rules....

Regards
Joe

I am NOT going to change the rules in the middle of the game- I WILL DO NO SUCH THING! HEREAFTER, The prevailing all-encompassing forum rules will be adhered to and observed. My managerial additions are outlined below and they do not breach the rules. Managers do have cretin options.

I will only, herein, clarify my hope for this section to operate on workshop bases whereby images can be edited or overlayed ONLY with the express permission of the maker. Critiques by me or anyone else will not be accepted without the express permission of the maker. Unauthorized critiques or edits will be promptly deleted without notice. If you or anyone wants a critique, PLEASE specify with each submission (just write "critique OK"). No one needs to restrict editing without permission with each post BUT must specify if they don't object and only to illustrate critiques (Just write "editing OK"). This is not a post-processing specific section. Post-processing or custom printing techniques can be discussed or illustrated at the submitter option.

It is assumed at all photographs, registered or otherwise, are automatically copyrighted in the name of the maker. Please do not post images where the copyright has been sold or given to a client or any third party. That can be an issue for professional photographers doing work under the contract. Do not post images where you did not secure a model release.

These are the only new voluntary policies: There are many sections on this forum for simply posting any images just to share or exhibit work. Please try to restrict submissions to this section that qualify as PORTRAITS, not snapshots, fashion images, (there is a commercial section for those). Portraits needn't be traditional- they can be candid, casual, formal, studio, location, indoor or outdoor, theatrical, period, costume, lifestyles, individual or group, boudoir, business or personal, kids, adults, pets, model portfolio shoots are OK! There is a wide scope- just use common sense!

PLEASE- PLEASE- PLEASE!!! Avoid "attaboy and attagirl" posts. The section was started for the promotion of and education in good portraiture. If you love, like, hate, or despise an image PLEASE state why- give technical or aesthetic reasons? When you offer an authorized critique PLEASE state your case, offer suggestions or remedies a or sing the praises and don't forget to explain your points of criticism.

When making submissions, for the sake of educational purposes- mention your lighting, camera technique, camera type, and glass- focal length, post-processing/retouching and a brief idea of what you wanted to express in the image. Include a title of you like. PLEASE REMEMBER: Once you agree to edit or critique, your image is fair game for anyone who responds properly.

If you authorize a critique or edit PLEASE take if for what it is worth- if you disagree, post feedback but PLEASE do not carry on protracted arguments. Anyone can request or make a critique. Threads that turn nasty and go south will be deleted.

So...really folks, this is a self-policing situation and I ain't the top-cop! All I can do is try to be a fair moderator and remove unauthorized stuff. If we all try to keep these policies, I think it will work well for all who chose to participate, otherwise, it will become chaotic- like what sometimes happens elsewhere on the forum and if that is the case, why bother with a specialized section?

If there are complaints, just send me a PM- I will address the issue and delete unauthorized edits or critiques. I will not censor critiques as to opinion- just be courteous, honest and helpful! In a workshop environment, everyone's opinion is acceptable- it's up to the submitter to reject or accept advice.

This happens as of NOW! Again, no image will be reproduced, edited, or overlaid with markings without authorization of the maker. I will delete any unauthorized material. I am not monitoring 24/7 but I usually check in once a day unless I am unavailable.- I'm here usually after work around 9:00 PM EST.

I hope this helps and is acceptable to all concerned! If there are any questions or objections, or requested changes, please tell me NOW or hold your peace and let's see how it works. There is very little traffic in this section and I don't want to promote it more actively if does not run smoothly.

PS- Joe- if you wish to start another section with a different aproach or rules, you can write the Anmin. and make a submission. I had no difficulty starting this one- they are usually receptive to new ideas.

I apologise for any upset I have caused. To avoid any further issues of this nature going forward, I will post some new or more specific rules for the section. I will explain how critiques are made and advise folks not to post sensitive, copyrighted material, or images that they don't wish to be reproduced in the section for reasons of critique.

Just a quick reminder as to why I asked...… This would appear to contradict your above statement and the reason I query it...

The rules of the entire forum will be honored and enforced with no changes. Individual sections can have additional rules and policies. NO UNAUTHORIZED CRITIQUES OR EDITS WILL BE MADE WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION OF THE MAKER. CRITIQUES OR EDITS MUST BE REQUESTED- THEY WILL NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY DONE EVEN IF PERMISSION IS NOTED IN THE MAKERS SIGNATURE.

Joe- Personally, I will not edit or criticize your work. There is another co-manager and others can feel free to engage with you as per your request. The other policy items are voluntary- it's up to each participant to stay within the guidelines. If they don't, the section will become chaotic and not address the reasons for starting it. The only text or images I will delete are unauthorized critiques or edits or unpleasant protracted arguments.

This applies only the the Advanced and Professional Portraiture Forum. Issues with other section have to be taken up with other managers and the admits.
