No trip to France and the Paris region is complete without a trip to Monet's Home at Giverny and in particular the Lily Pond which was the inspiration for his magnificent Nympheas paintings now housed in the Musee De L' Orangerie in Paris. Although Fall is not the ideal time to visit, in fact the attraction closes for 5 months at the end of October, the fall colors are indeed spectacular. Here are some views of the Lily Pond on a chilly, damp day just a couple of days before the scheduled closing.

Love the background settings which inspired Monet... Did you get a chance to compare side by side the same scenics painted before and after cataract surgery which he had done later in life ? He became very depressed with true colors after surgery... Could we make a case that he preferred the warm and fuzzies; or make the case that he preferred the filtered look as opposed to the SOOC look. I just became aware of all this after cat surgery myself 2 mos. ago. I thought it was interesting and was reminded when reading a current discussion of capturing reality as opposed to an artistic rendering.

Thanks Jim, they came out pretty well for a rainy day. Just caught the very tail end of the season before they closed. Glad you liked them.
