I am shooting a lot of video last few years. Some for work as a job.
Some for charities like a big running festival for charities. And art both stills and video.
The assignment the other day for a large Metals companies main office.
I still favor the Sony XDCam- PXW X70. A 10 bit camcorder. smaller size
but really good video footage. A lot a pro journalistic shooters use it.
I found some settings on a forum for the camera and the footage this week was great.
Run and gun stage employees for a fun spoof. One big LED light and small Light.
Not much time 14 scenes quickly set up. This camera is 5-6 years old. Their is a
newer version. The original X70 was discount price was $2500 and 500 for 4K add.
My RX10 III 24 600 has worked in sports scenes like soccer and event.
Their is a FS-5 and FS-7 which are less then the Canons 300/200 which I admire.
Sony prices helped getting gear and lens that were below others.
I had the original a7s mirrorless a camera (a7s II) that changed video and film
look in low light. Their are RX100's I have carried perform stills and video
that does great imagery. I love the a6000 series and now have the a6300
which is outrageous good for a crop camera. The Sony Zeiss 55mm is great.
All of these products have performed great imagery for me.
I am not comparing fans. I am fan of the Canon C200 and their DSLR's.
Comments here are focused on brand sometimes.
Sony's sensors and innovation has let me keep me in the game and art
creation.

Sony builds mirrorless cameras for the masses and prices them of the benefit of mankind.

That Sony innovation and products and price have helped creators pro and enthusiast.
I am sorry that I posted a good opinion of this companies experience and how I used them.
Abrupt comments not interested in the subject are why this forum is become
and angry persons place to vent.
Nikon did that for me for many years. It is a tool to improve observation
and creative skills. Nikon and Apple were the tools that helped my companies
prosper for many years. How we use these tools is interesting.

Tom,
I agree with your basic premise that Sony make great products, but Bsprague has a good point. Your post is pretty garbled. It would really help if you read your own message before posting and maybe even do a spellcheck.

The post above, should have been in your OP. It would have brought clarity to your topic and resulted in a better response.

Frankly, I read your OP multiple times and find it difficult to follow.
Not an angry person responding, just a confused one.

I've been watching and using Sony equipment for close to 50 years, mostly on the audio side. Based on what I've seen and experienced through the years, I can't agree that Sony has ever been a really innovative company. Like most successful consumer companies along the way, they have come up with a few products or ideas that were "different," like the Trinitron picture tube or the Walkman radios and cassette players, but even these were really just adjustments and adaptations of existing technologies and products. Even their image sensors, good as they are, are really evolutionary, not revolutionary. Their audio equipment, for example, did not advance that technology anywhere near the extent that Yamaha did as a consumer company.

If you can find and read Akio Morita's biography, you will find that Sony has historically been fighting an economic war, not a technological one. Their focus has generally been on their own well-being, not that of the consumer or of the industries within which they operate. Innovation is expensive.

Until Sony will simplify their menu system, I'll never use another. Regardless of how "good" they are, it is very difficult to try to change settings on the fly. I've lost too many vacation photos because of an improper setting for the photo such as DOF, lighting, shutter speed, ISO, etc. So I'll stay with a more simplistic menu system that is arranged more logically.

Not a dig, but a suggestion. Have someone proof-read for you. I read this 3 times, and I'm still not sure what you said. Maybe that's part of the reason you get the perceived rebuffs?

If you are blaming the menu for the problems you listed, it is very obvious that either you did not take the time to properly set up your camera, you did not know how to shoot with the various buttons on the device, and you probably need to shoot in auto because you do not know the exposure triangle.

I agree that Sony has great camcorders! They are also ahead in photo equipment but you have to pay dearly to own these cameras and lenses. Maybe I should wait and purchase older equipment. Sony has been the leader for many years in television manufacturing too. But so far, I have been purchasing Canon DSLRs because once you start with one company you are committed to their lenses, cameras and other equipment.

I also wish that members of this forum were more civil to each other instead of bickering like little children!

Thank your for your intelligent reply and your plea for more civil discourse.
Yes my post was garbled my apologies. I think that Sony pricing is less in general than Canon (love their pro entry camcorders. Bickering about my tired explanation of I think an interesting story of Sony is the last few years in still and video. Thanks
