Hope you folks can help me.
I’m retired now and wanting to get into more depth using Lightroom.
I am trying to email a picture and going through the process it tells me I need a email account. I change it to my email provider on the drop down under my name.
But still doesn’t work. How do I make a account for Lightroom. Thanks

I'm assuming that you are following this process?
https://laurashoe.com/2012/04/12/how-to-email-photos-directly-from-lightroom-4/

If you export a jpeg, are you able to send it successfully using your email provider? If not, maybe the file size exceeds your provider's limit, which would also be the issue using LR. In that case, try resizing the image.

Can you retitle the subject LightRoom instead of the misleading Luminar 4.4?

By far the easiest way to email a photo from your LR catalog is to export the photo as a jpg, then use your email client and attach and send.

Try creating a folder on your hard drive
& export the pic to the folder. Then add it to your email as an attachment & see if it works. I wish I could tell you how to from LR but, I have never done it.

I made a file like you suggest. I clicked on email hard drive. To send and a box came up saying. That there is no email program Associated to perform the requested action.

Open your email program just like you want to send a text email. You can add text, but it's not required.
Look for a button marked "attach" or "add attachment". Click that and you will get a dialog that will allow you to navigate to the folder containing your photo. Click on the photo and hit "OK". then send the email.

Your information is correct, but the OP wanted to email starting in Lightroom, so it's necessary to export before performing the steps you cited.

Another approach that may work if you use Gmail is to go here: https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps add click on "Allow Less Secure Apps." However, this seems risky, so I choose to export and then attach, as I described above. Still, you could try it to see if this is the source of your problem.

Prompt lightroom to send an email of a picture by right click on the desired picture and select "email" from the drop down. Once the email form appears on your screen with the picture you want to send don't fill in any address or anything else. Just press send. The picture/pictures then appears in your normal Gmail format at which point you will have access to your address book and all other email account facilities and you can send it as you would any other email, with or without text or subject.
