16 GB. Card Reader doesn't recognize the disc.
Took it to a data recovery shop and they wanted $150.00. I don't know if I downloaded the files to one of my drives and I don't know what's on the disc.
Any suggestions?

Use a computer you can keep isolated just in case it picked up a trojan or something, have a backup of the machine to restore it if it does have something nasty. Put disk in the slot and run something like "Recuva" specifiying it read the slot - mine usually gets drive letter 'L' when I put a card in so you would tell it to do a recovery on drive 'L' or the letter assigned by your machine.
If it is just code corruption there is a good chance it will recover the files. But if the card has gone bad - well contact SanDisc support and ask what they recommend.
I don't mean to insult your intelligence but I've had the same message on my computer when the little sliding "thing" that locks or unlocks the disk was not in proper position. First try to read the card with the "thing" all the way forward, in the middle, and all the way back before spending a wad of money on it.

No, they want 150 to get the info you want off of the card.
What was the old saying? Something to the effect the part is 20 bucks, knowing how to replace the part is 500.

I've never had a SD fail on me. Even a 10 year old Lexar 4gb Class 4 SD card is still working.. Here's another source I got from this forum in a past thread.

Another vote for Recuva (and the switch on the card only prevents writing - no effect on reading).

They fix the card for free. They want $150 for the images on it. Try Recuva. Has worked well for me a couple of times and since it is a free download, worth every penny that it cost.

Your card reader might be too old to recognize that particular car. Try it in a different reader. Can you still see images on the card while it is in the camera?

Everyone assumed you meant a "card" since you called it a Card Reader. Is it a card or a CD? My CD drive on my laptop died. You might get an external one and try it if it is a CD.

You don't want to fix that card.
Maybe you want to get the photos off it, but never use it again.
Buy a new one and do everything you can to get the photos off (up to the value and repeatability of the photos), but if you can get the photos off, back them up and throw the card away.
(Purely semantics).

If it's corrupted, impeach it!😁
